Safety
funny and surprising, never cruel.
Safety screening, block and report tools, and operator review are part of the product—not optional extras.
Zero-tolerance harms
Child exploitation, grooming, sexualization of a minor, sextortion, credible threats, targeted bullying, hate, non-consensual intimate imagery, and use of another person’s profile photo or likeness are prohibited.
If anyone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Cast support is not an emergency service.
Likeness and consent
Before either identity photo leaves the device for AI use, Cast obtains explicit, versioned permission. OpenAI screens the public profile photo and private identity selfie. While permission is active, Cast operators may include you in curated media, and mutual friends may select you in Cast-authored experiences that generate group photos or other media. Cast verifies the mutual relationship, active consent, and block status before resolving a private identity selfie on the server; the friend never receives the selfie. Generation sends only the references needed for that request through Vercel AI Gateway to the configured OpenAI or Google Gemini model. You can withdraw permission in Settings; withdrawal stops future use and removes both identity photos and generated media that includes you from the service. See AI & likeness.
Generation and media safeguards
Identity photos are screened before use. Cast authors the available templates and generation instructions. Operators may start curated generations; users may start offered experiences and select only eligible, consenting mutual friends. The selecting friend never receives a private identity selfie or writes the generation prompt. Instructions prohibit sexual content, violence, gore, hate, drugs, humiliation, dangerous activity, misleading current-events framing, and deceptive text. Generated output is screened before sending. User-sent images and video thumbnails are screened after delivery and removed if they fail.
Private chat text is not automatically screened or sent to a moderation provider. A chat member can report a message, and operators can remove it from the service after review.
AI-generated or AI-edited Cast photos and videos are fictional and must not be presented as real events. AI output may still fail these rules.
Access and sharing
Inside Cast, messages and media are limited to their intended mutual-friend recipients and shared group chats. Sent media may also appear in a sender’s profile archive to mutual friends who share the underlying chat. A recipient or depicted person may save or share media outside Cast. A route or notification never overrides in-app cast membership, a block, removal, or account deletion. Once a depicted person shares a copy outside Cast, that copy is outside our access controls.
Report and block
Use a media, message, or profile menu to report unsafe content, harassment, privacy concerns, copyright issues, or other abuse. Operators can mark reports open, under review, resolved, or dismissed; inspect reported media; remove content or a profile photo; and suspend or restore an account with an audit history.
Blocking is bidirectional for in-app visibility, following, messaging, reactions, generation eligibility, and shared media.
